This patient assistance card explains to patients how to find support from other patients and survivors on the web at the Oral Cancer Foundation's web site. The foundation’s Survivor / Patient Forum has thousands of individuals from survivors, patients, and caregivers, posting real time to discuss their questions and problems, and finding both informational and emotional support from those that have traveled this path before them via their computer at home.
The forum is the most heavily trafficked forum of its type on the web for oral cancer patients. It is the largest support group in the world for oral cancer patients. No one gets through this alone. Support from others such as previous patients and caregivers, can make a huge difference to a newly diagnosed patient. This card is ideal handout for treatment facilities, nursing staff there that are involved in patient support issues, as well as those involved in psycho-oncology.
This is a FREE product and we urge cancer treatment facilities and their staffs to have them available on hand to give to new patients. They should be in treatment waiting rooms for chemo and radiation, at social services, and available from staff at the central head and neck treatment area.
