Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ryan B Jolley lived his life in the spirit of this quote, both figuratively and literally. As an avid hiker, backpacker, snow boarder and skier, river and sea kayaker, surfer, snorkeler, and world traveler, Ryan had an adventurous spirit that could never be quashed. He continually challenged himself and others both physically and mentally asserting that everyone should push themselves past their limits. Ryan remained a genuinely friendly person who was fiercely independent, intelligent, restless, stubborn, and kind. Many will remember him most fondly as very much the individual, rarely caring what other people thought, and as a person who sought out his own path in life.

After an 18-month battle with his diagnosis of Oral Cancer in 2010 that spread to his head and neck despite aggressive treatment and extreme resolve, Ryan lost this fight at the tragically youthful age of 38. Ryan never faltered in his determination to live and live well. He will be missed beyond words.

Ryan's family is heartbroken from this devastating loss. They want Ryan’s death to have meaning and to lead the way toward life.

They invite you to join with them in donating to the Oral Cancer Foundation through Ryan's memorial fund. They are grateful for the opportunity to honor Ryan with donations that will help fund efforts to increase awareness and support research that will prevent and hopefully cure this terrible disease.
